From the Board room to the stage... construction boots to stilettos, Nicole Butler is no ordinary opera singer.
Soprano, Nicole Butler currently resides in Washington, DC and has performed with the Washington National Opera at the Kennedy Center (where she recently completed the production of Faust). Nicole launched the year as a Featured Soloist in the Sopranos Slay Concert for CAAPA then toured the U.S. in three solo recitals this Summer and Fall. Before heading off to her debut season with American Spiritual Ensemble January - March, Nicole will perform, by invitation of His Excellency Wolfgang Waldner, at the Austrian Embassy for Austria National Day and his farewell retirement program.
Nicole has also performed with the Washington Opera Society (in the role of "Frasquita") from Bizet's Carmen at the Embassy of France in Summer 2018). Along with performances with Opera Camerata of Washington DC, Opera NoVa and DiCapo Opera Theater in New York City.
As a Lyric Coloratura, some of her notable operatic roles include "Donna Anna" in Mozart's Don Giovanni, "Clorinda" in Rossini's La Cenerentola, "Frasquita" in Bizet's Carmen,"Clara" in Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, “Susanna” in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, "Giannetta" in Donizetti's L'elisir D'amore, “Adriana” in Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur, “Susannah” in Floyd’s Susannah and “Musetta” in Puccini’s La Boheme.
Nicole is not the typical opera singer. She holds a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from the University of Maryland and led a progressive career as Senior Vice President in the Banking and Finance industry. Currently, as Principle and Realtor, Nicole manages her own real estate firm, NGage Properties Group, headquartered in Capitol Hill and co-owns a residential development firm, Black Pharaoh Development.
Her passion for the opera was discovered when she moved to New York City where she completed coursework at Juilliard School which provided her the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, New York City Theatre with the New York City Ballet, the Lincoln Center and at countless concert halls throughout the U.S.
Mrs. Butler has lived in and performed across multiple regions of Italy with the International Lyric Academy of Rome. She has also performed in various countries across the continent of Africa. Her oratorio experience includes countless performances of Handel’s Messiah, Dubois’ The Seven Last Words of Christ, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Mozart’s, Verdi’s and Brahm’s Requiem.
